Gentek Steel and Aluminum Siding Defect Complaints

Cafferty Faucher LLP is investigating claims against Gentek Building Products, Inc. and Associated Materials, LLC that it made false and misleading representations and warranties relating to its aluminum and steel exterior siding.

According to filed complaints, despite Gentek’s representations concerning the durability of its steel and aluminum siding, it is severely defective.  Building owners have complained that the siding suffers from cracks, chips, flakes, peels, splits, buckles, discoloration and deterioration.  Complaints allege that despite Gentek’s offer of a lifetime warranty, when home and business owners attempt to notify Gentek of their claims, it attempts to avoid its contractual liability.  Instead of replacing the defective siding or compensating building owners for the defects, Gentek offers a minimal amount of monetary compensation or to repaint the siding.  Allegations claim that neither of these offers is likely to resolve the siding’s defect or satisfy Gentek’s obligations pursuant to the siding’s lifetime warranty.
